Our Proven “Break the Cycle” Model
The impact of education is life changing. The answer to some of the most difficult challenges around the world can be complex and feel overwhelming. Yet we have discovered that it is possible to break harmful cycles. Even when these cycles have been in motion for decades. We are stepping forward today as we clearly see the vital role education plays in breaking many of the most harmful cycles faced by girls, especially orphans and refugees.
Cycles broken by girls’ education:
Poverty
Gender discrimination
Limited leaning - Girls not graduating from High School
Poor health
Knowledge about and access to feminine hygiene products
Reduced early childhood marriage (marriage in the high school years)
We are breaking these cycles by giving girls access to education. It is a joy to watch the positive changes that happen as a girl is able to learn and as she is supported by mentors in her education.
Today orphan and refugee girls in Kenya, the DRC and Burundi are given the opportunity to go to school with the complete support of AGHF. We are changing futures one girl at a time!
