How We Help!
At African Girls Hope Foundation - the Hope is for education!
Our foundation works to remove 5 barriers to education! These barriers block girls from entering school, and staying in school until they graduate. They are extremely difficult for orphan and refugee girls to overcome.
DID YOU KNOW . . . that education is NOT free in Africa?
No free public schools - all African schools have entrance fees
No free lunch - not even for low income families
No free school supplies - you must bring your own supplies
No free tests - exams must be paid for - in advance, for each test
School Uniforms must be purchased and worn with shoes before entering school doors
DID YOU KNOW . . . that menstrual cycles can stop education?
Without money to pay for period products the girls stay home
Missing one week of school every month
Some completely stop going to school once their cycles start
DID YOU KNOW . . . traditions keep girls home when finances are tight?
Traditionally boys are first to attend school and graduate
If the family has enough money, the girls may go
If money decreases the girls are first ones pulled out of school
These are the 5 ways we help! AGHF removes these 5 barriers:
The Results? The Benefits?
