Do you know what happens at an AGHF Event in Africa?
Three times a year the staff in Africa organizes an event for AGHF girls.
These events have three main purposes:
1) Distribute much needed supplies to the girls (shoes, uniforms, school supplies, and hygiene products)
2) Gather the girls to strengthen them and help them make friends
3) Teach them a variety of life skills
AGHF MENTORS: During these events AGHF guidance counselors work with, encourage and follow up on the girls’ progress in school. They also address the unique struggles of each girl.
EVENT PROGRAM: Each event focuses on specific topics the girls are dealing with, provides speakers, group discussions, singing, activities and food. It’s also a chance for the girls to meet each other as they come from many different schools.

Look at the important topics that were focused on this April:
· Fostering Self-Awareness
· Avoiding Peer Pressure
· Considering Career Choices
There were 3 main speakers:
- Leokadia Mzungu - AGHF Mentor Staff
- Debra Masinde – Nurse
- Cecile Bukuru – AGHF Volunteer
We are so grateful to these three dedicated facilitators that helped with the April 2024 event. Thank you for joining us and giving your time and energy to help the girls.
Whether you are a girl in America or Africa – dealing with school and peer relationships can be difficult! Increasing their confidence and knowledge is always the focus! Group discussions at the April event also centered around:
· Boosting self-esteem
· Learning essential skills
· Enhancing relationships with parents and peers
During part of this event, parents and guardians of the girls were invited to join in. They strongly encouraged the girls to grab hold of the opportunities they have been given by AGHF and rise above their current struggles.
The day was a huge success! Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who organized, planned and worked so hard. We want to thank the donors that made this event and others like it possible!
AGHF is committed to providing unwavering support to ensure the girls reach their full potential. Together this is happening. Thank you!
